Eclectic Seaside Elopement
in Del Mar
Event Details
Natalie and Mark planned a destination wedding to Natalie’s hometown of San Diego from their home in Colorado. I began working with Natalie to plan her wedding prior to Covid-19. Once it became clear their original wedding vision would need to be modified, we re-imagined their dream day into an intimate family ceremony and reception in the bride’s backyard.
It was an honor creating and collaborating with Natalie in creating her and Mark’s wedding day after months of hard work delivering babies(!) during the pandemic and having to adjust her wedding plans from a 200-person guest list to an all-family gathering. We incorporated dried flowers into Natalie’s floral story as an homage to her grandmother. Natalie and her bridesmaids (the bride and groom’s sisters) wore dried floral combs and crowns in the floral color palette of cream, sand, ballet slipper, coral, sky blue, and sage. Natalie wanted a laidback, summer-inspired wedding reception with a Spanish feel. Blue and white Talavera pottery, gilded seashells, market lights and papel picado garlands add a layer of casual elegance to the al fresco dining experience.
I look forward to designing Natalie and Mark’s wedding reception in 2021 at Scripps Seaside Forum when it is safe to host their larger reception.
