La Valencia Hotel’s classic pink building is a fixture of San Diego history, right by La Jolla Cove and overlooking the ocean. The hotel is known for hosting Hollywood’s film starlets since its opening in 1926. The suite of colors for the wedding and reception include “La Vie’s” signature pink and a subdued palette of cream, blush and lavender in a posh, floral-heavy design style. The floral story leans in the direction of spring with spirea, butterfly ranunculus, hyacinth, Liberty tulips, garden roses and peonies. All-white vanda and phalaenopsis orchids brought a touch of tropical flair to the designs. The ceremony site showcases the unique floral varieties. Phalaenopsis orchids follow the curvature at the top of the ceremony arch, strung blossoms hang on the reception chairs, and at the entrance of the ceremony site offers a basket of mini bananas and coconuts.

The long dining table on the patio focused attention on the flowers and elegant, formal dining details. Mint shantung linens and crisp sandtone hemstitch napkins anchor the table design. Pristine Coronation silverware and vintage cut crystal glassware add sparkle. The centerpieces were designed in low glass compotes for lush centerpieces full of seasonal varieties. Delicate blown glass bud vases, cracked coconuts, and blush and lavender taper candles weave between place setting for an intimate reception on the El Jardin Terrace at sunset.
