Pastel Watercolor Tropicals
in La Jolla
Event Details
The bride and groom brought Hawaii to La Jolla for their intimate spring wedding. Beth wanted a lush, tropical paradise in a palette of pastels. With this creative directive, a mix of tropical flowers and traditional garden varieties combined for a romantic, Hawaiian inspired watercolor of tropical and English garden flowers designed in a loose, organic style.
The color palette features bright white, blush, peach and lavender with structural tropical foliage. Anthuriums, phalaenopsis orchids, and fragrant gardenias danced through each design. Three different types of ferns lend a lacy feeling to each of the floral pieces.
Beth carried an oversize, cascading bridal bouquet full of fluffy ranunculus, lavender sweet peas, anthurium, gardenias, phalaenopsis orchids and blooming jasmine vine tendrils. Her bridesmaids carried simple, free flowing bouquets of ranunculus and speckled phalaenopsis orchids with a chic ribbon wrap. Beth wore a floral comb of large and mini phalaenopsis orchids, the finishing touch to her cathedral length tulle veil.
Following the ceremony, Beth opted for a colorful floral halo of mini phalaenopsis orchids with delicate ferns. B+B’s reception overlooked the ocean at Duke’s La Jolla. The reception featured lush floral centerpieces with ranunculus, anthurium, and phalaenopsis orchids spilling upon each table. Shiny monstera leaves were placed under each guest’s dinner plate for the informal family style dinner. Twinkling votive candles and bud vases with gardenia blossoms dance between each centerpiece.
