Dutch Masters
at the Guild
Event Details
Dramatic, swooping tulips, gilded trees for centerpieces, and an abundance of candlelight filled the reception of Brigid and Jim’s September wedding at The Guild Hotel. B+J’s wedding was actually the first wedding at the newly renovated hotel in downtown San Diego. Brigid walks on the wild side - she wanted a wedding day rich in color and texture, drawing influence from the opulence of Dutch Master’s still life paintings. Brigid’s bouquet featured a palette of vermillion, oxblood, plum, and cream with speckled foxglove, parrot tulips and anemones for an artistic bouquet. Hot Cocoa garden roses from Grace Rose Farm and purple basil from Wayward Daisy, a local flower farm here in San Diego, anchored the design.
The reception featured two different table decors. The round tables glowed with 4 foot tall, tree-like candelabra centerpieces covered with gold leaves and pillar candles. The ring of tables away from the dance floor glowed with deep colored votives and compote centerpieces featuring dahlias, anemones, chocolate cosmos, and parrot tulips spilling onto each table. Delicate details in Dutchmaster paintings decorated the tables with eggs dyed Robin blue, blackberries, and pears for an immersive, candlelit dinner with the newlyweds.
